Military Dad Returns to Lowcountry For Surprise Reunion With Son

We've come to associate the Fourth Of July with Fireworks, keepin that rub for those ribs a family secret, and granting celebrity status upon the guy who can eat the most hot dogs in 10 minutes. Well...today...I got to do the MOST Fourth of July "Thing" I have ever done! I got a call from a mom asking would I help coordinate a surprise for her grandson. She shared with me that her son CJ was back in the states after being deployed in Korea for the last 6 years. She said he had just landed at his base in Georgia...was in route to Charleston...and was ready to see his son for the first time in over 2 years. My response was.."Just tell me what you need and where to be." She told me what she needed...we hung up...and my first call was to enlist the help of my good friend Bill Walsh...and what happened next made me realize that the sacrifices made by folks like First Sgt. CJ Dutart and his son Chase are what should REALLY be celebrated everyday, but, especially on the Fourth of July! Happy Birthday America!!!! Because of CJ and others like him...we have the freedom, if we so choose, to watch a man stuff 71 hotdogs down his throat on ESPN (thank GOD that's not our only freedom!!)
