Dance Conservatory of Charleston is delighted each Winter to present The Nutcracker, one of the most treasured performing opportunities in a dancer’s life. A brave young girl, her prince, a pageant of ballerinas and a cast of dreamlike characters in a world filled with magic and sweet delights. Our student dancers are part of this beloved holiday tradition. With almost 200 student dancers comprising two casts, we are proud to present a production in which every student shines, from our primary division dancers as Little Sugar Plums, to our pre-professional students in the principal roles of Sugar Plum and Snow Queen. We are also thrilled to present DCC faculty member Bo Busby—a former American Ballet Theatre dancer, Boston Ballet Soloist and Columbia City Ballet Principal— as Snow King and Cavalier in this year's performances. For advanced dancers, we are particularly honored to offer the elite opportunity to perform “Snowflakes” from George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker © choreography by George Balanchine ® The George Balanchine Trust! This honor, bestowed on only select schools in the country, allows our students the incredible opportunity to dance the same iconic choreography the New York City Ballet performs at Lincoln Center. Join us for this timeless holiday classic live in theater or from the comfort of your own home with our online streaming ticket options. A delight for all ages, our production of The Nutcracker is the perfect way to celebrate the season with family & friends, near and far!
