Carly Pearce Powerfully Kickstarts Country Music's Presence In iHeartLand

Carly Pearce kicked off the first-ever country performance in iHeartLand with a “sassy” breakup anthem, delivering a powerful declaration that a cheating ex can have everything back — but he’s never gonna get the diamond ring.

“Keep the house, keep the truck/ Go downtown, get too drunk/ Kiss a one-night stand with a butterfly on her back/ Take the bed where you used to lie/ Keep the friends I never liked/ And the happy ever after welcome mat/ But you ain't gonna get this diamond back/ No, never ever gettin' this diamond back/ You can keep the dog and the Cadillac/ But you ain't gonna get this diamond back.”

Pearce’s special iHeartRadio LIVE with Carly Pearce performance in the Metaverse marked iHeartLand’s first-ever iHeartCountry event in Roblox and Fortnite. Viewers tuned in to catch the award-winning singer-songwriter’s high-energy show on Thursday evening (January 12).

The superstar country artist also included her smash-hit heartbreak ballad, “What He Didn’t Do,” in her iHeartRadio LIVE set list, and closed her show with “Next Girl,” a single that serves as a cautionary message to the next girl her ex turns to after a rocky split. Pearce rocked the iHeartLand stage at State Farm Park while Roblox users had the chance to check out more exclusive content.

“I bet you probably met him at a bar/ Let him walk you to your car/ I bet he said he never falls this hard/ Yeah, I remember that part/ He knows how to say all the right things/ Knows how to get you outta that dress/ Knows how to make you think you're the best thing/ But I know what happens next, girl”

The special Metaverse event — which featured “How Fan Are You?” trivia questions for Fortnite fans — comes as Pearce is getting ready to usher in her next era after the success of her deeply personal (and widely relatable) 2021 album, 29: Written In Stone, which also featured the heartbreak duet with Ashley McBryde, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” the Loretta Lynn tribute with fellow Kentucky-born star Patty Loveless, “Dear Miss Loretta,” and other highlights. Pearce, now 32, previously told iHeartRadio, in part, that 29 “opened my eyes to a lot of things in life. …I feel wiser because of the really hard stuff that I went through.” When Pearce premiered the emotional music video for “What He Didn’t Do,” she signaled that it was nearly time to introduce a new chapter in her career.

“So I ain't gonna go and tell you what he did/ But I'll tell you what he didn't do/ Treat me right, put me first, be a man of his word/ Stay home 'cause he wanted to/ Always fight for my love, hold on tight like it's something/ That he couldn't stand to lose/ The devil's in the details, I won't tell the hell that he put me through/ All I know is in the end, it wasn't what he did/ No, it was what he didn't do”

Pearce has been hinting on her social media channels that her new music would release soon. She’s shared a few behind-the-scenes looks from the recording studio after confirming that she’s working on her next record, and posted sneak peeks of unreleased songs, “We Don’t Fight Anymore” and “Trust Issues.” Pearce has previously explained that the music she shares on her next album will reflect changes she’s experienced in her life since 29: Written In Stone.

“I think what fans have shown me is they want to see how I see the world,” Pearce recently said of the inspirations for her next album, in a statement shared by her record label. “So, it’s been an interesting process of coming out of a season of my life that was so hard and transitioning into one that, yes, is so much fuller and richer, but also still a hard way to come out of. You don’t just blink your eyes one day and you’re healed, or you don’t just wake up one day and say, everything’s great, and yay! So, I think this one is just a chapter of my life that’s more navigating a new season, navigating to me, the best season of my life, honoring what I have been through, honoring that some of those things will live on with me as I carry through my life. And celebrating that I made it through in such a wonderful way.”

Fans can still watch iHeartRadio LIVE with Carly Pearce in iHeartLand at State Farm Park in Fortnite and on Roblox for two days only, starting Thursday, January 12th at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
