A popular sweet and salty snack sold in stores around the country, including in South Carolina, has been recalled over a potentially serious health risk.

Lifestyle Evolution Inc. recently issued a recall of certain lots of its NuGo Dark Chocolate Chip and NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel nutrition bars sold at select retailers and online nationwide due to the potential presence of milk that was not listed on the product labels, according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This could pose the risk of a "serious or life-threatening" allergic reaction for consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk.

These are the products included in the recall:

  • NuGo Dark Chocolate Chip (item number 6 91535 52102; best by 12/21/2025, 12/22/2025 and 12/23/2025)
  • NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel (item number 6 91535 52902; best by 12/14/2025)
  • NuGo Dark Multipack - Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Pretzel (item number 6 91535 52004; best by 12/22/2025 and 12/23/2025)

There have been at least 11 allergic reactions reported in connection to the recall, and an investigation into the packaging error is ongoing. Consumers can return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.
