Jana Kramer revealed new details about her next acting role on Thursday (April 10).
The actress, author, country artist and Whine Down with Jana Kramer host posted a screenshot of a Deadline report on Instagram. The Hollywood entertainment news hub reports that Kramer will star in the Lifetime “ripped from the headlines” thriller alongside Steve Guttenberg and Rachel Stubington. The based-on-a-true-story movie is titled Kidnapped by a Killer: The Heather Robinson Story.
Kramer plays an investigator in the soon-to-premiere film. Guttenberg plays a real-life serial killer, John Robinson, whom the title character, played by Stubington, believed was her uncle. Heather Robinson grew up knowing she was adopted as a baby, and learned when she was 15 that she'd been kidnapped when her biological mother was murdered, per Deadline.
Heather Robinson’s mother, Lisa Stasi, was murdered in 1985. She was 19 years old, and one of at least 10 women who became victims of the serial killer. Heather Robinson — whose name was changed from Tiffany Stasi after the abduction — was only 4 months old when her mother was killed and she presumably vanished (her adoptive parents did not know their baby had been kidnapped after her biological mother’s murder). Heather Robinson learned the truth about her story in 2000, and nearly two decades later, she spoke for the first time with ABC’s 20/20 in 2019.
Kramer previously shared a photo from the set of an unannounced project on Instagram. She said in her post on March 12 that she went from the Bahamas “to 1985😉. 🎬,” though she did not share any details about the project — including whether it was from the set of Kidnapped by a Killer: The Heather Robinson Story — in her caption.
On Thursday, Kramer told fans to “mark your calendars.” Kidnapped by a Killer: The Heather Robinson Story will premiere at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on Saturday, June 7.
