Brett Young revealed the reason he refuses to “Drink With You.”
Young debuted his newest single on Friday (April 11), days after announcing details about his fourth studio record, 2.0. The song also arrives shortly after iHeartCountry listeners were able to catch it one day early. The California-born country star shared his reaction on his Instagram story as he heard “Drink With You” on Nashville, Tennessee-based The BIG 98 for the first time.
Young, who previewed his newest anthem for live audiences at recent shows, joined forces with Jesse Frasure, Tony Lucca and Emily Weisband to write “Drink With You,” described as “a pedal steel-stamped struggle of resisting alcohol-induced romantic temptations,” reads a press release issued Wednesday (April 9). The rest of the album, produced by Jimmy Robbins and Dann Huff, is due to release on June 13.

“It’s always my goal to be real and transparent and connect with my audience, whether that means writing a song about what happened yesterday or revisiting past experiences,” Young said in a statement. “It should always be about a connection with the listeners. 2.0 feels really special to me, and I’m very proud of it. I hope it makes people want to come out and see the live show even more.”
