Emmy Russell shared a “vulnerable” update after her daughter’s recent hospitalization.
Russell and her husband, Tyler Ward, have opened up about caring for their baby, Taylor Ray (Raydiant) Ward, after noticing her “small spasms.” The couple asked for continued prayers as they shared more information about her “infantile spasms, which…(is) very, very rare.” Ward said Taylor “has two weeks of medication and then a follow-up. …But as of now, it is a miracle.”
“Since my daughter’s diagnosis, it’s been really hard just to function,” Russell said in an update she shared on Instagram on Wednesday evening (July 23). “It’s really hard not to get angry, scrolling online and seeing happy faces while it feels like my little girl is fighting battles that she didn’t ask for. As a parent, all you want to do is protect, and it feels like right now, all I can do is pray. If you’re wondering how I’m even sleeping at night, it’s knowing that I’m not the one who’s writing Taylor’s story. God’s writing it, and I know that whatever her story is, I will love every version of Taylor.”
Russell added on her Instagram story that her update “was very vulnerable to post, but it’s also therapeutic, (and) hopefully it makes you feel better about uncertainty like me.”
On Thursday (July 24), Russell shared on her Instagram story that Taylor is smiling more and “overall, just looks really good.” She said the medicine appears to help, and “one big breakthrough that we had” was not crying through the night. Russell said she finds herself “trusting my mom gut a little bit more,” including avoiding screens, playing “soft, chill” music, getting natural sunlight (in an otherwise dimly-lit home) and more.
Ward previously said, “we appreciate you more than you know, and we’ll be back with more details as Taylor continues on her healing journey.”
