Toyota and Chrysler have announced significant vehicle recalls affecting over one million vehicles in the United States due to safety concerns. Toyota's recall involves more than a million vehicles due to a problem with rearview cameras, which could increase the risk of crashes, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The recall affects certain 2022-2026 models of Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles equipped with Panoramic View Monitor systems. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a software error may cause the camera image to freeze or go blank when the vehicle is in reverse, failing to comply with federal rear visibility requirements.

Toyota has stated that dealers will update the parking assist software free of charge to resolve the issue. The automaker plans to notify affected customers by late December 2025. To determine if their vehicle is involved in the recall, owners can visit Toyota's recall website or the NHTSA's recall site and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.

Meanwhile, Chrysler, owned by Netherlands-based Stellantis, is recalling over 320,000 Jeep plug-in hybrid vehicles due to faulty batteries that can fail and lead to fires. The affected Chrysler models include 228,221 Jeep Wranglers from model years 2020 to 2025 and 91,844 Jeep Grand Cherokees from model years 2022 to 2026.

The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) advises owners to park these vehicles outside and away from structures and to avoid charging them until a solution is found. Chrysler is aware of 19 reports and one injury related to the battery issue.

Interim notification letters will be sent to vehicle owners by December 2, 2025, with additional letters to follow once a final remedy is available. The recall number is 68C, and affected vehicle identification numbers will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting November 6, 2025. The batteries were manufactured by Samsung SDI America in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
