Megan Moroney shared a snippet of a heartfelt unreleased ballad, stirring anticipation for new music amid her first-ever headlining arena tour.
Moroney, 28, unveiled the one-minute sneak peek on TikTok and Instagram on Sunday (July 5). She sings: “I’ve been to Times Square on New Year’s Eve/ Midnight confetti falling down on me/ I’ve been in Vegas, I stayed in one of those/ Sky high presidential suites/ What a dream/ I’ve heard the voice of Elvis from Graceland/ Down the hall/ I’ve seen the Smoky Mountains in the fall/ But I’d take your eyes over every sky in Southern California/ I’d trade a thousand Georgia nights for your kisses in the morning/ I could go anywhere/ I swear around the world and go see all there is to see/ But it’s always gonna be you and me.”
TikTok and Instagram users gushed over the “beautiful” lyrics, and begged for a release date; however, Moroney has not shared additional information as of publication time on Monday (July 6).
Moroney is in the midst of her headlining “Cloud 9 Tour” after releasing her third studio record earlier this year. The album includes “Beautiful Things,” the title track, “Stupid,” “Beautiful Things,” “Liars & Tigers & Bears,” “Wish I Didn’t,” collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves, two bonus tracks (“Sorry…I Meant Tonight” and “Traitor (Roles Reversed)”), and more.
“I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together,” Moroney previously said in a statement. “Similar to the first two albums [2023’s Lucky and 2024’s Am I Okay?], it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”
