Edisto Island's very own Geechie Boy Mill, famous for their Geechie Boy Grits, will be changing its name to Marsh Hill Mill amidst backlash. Critics have charged the brand with 'appropriating Black culture', to which they've responded by respectfully changing their name.

“After many days of prayer and countless bowls of grits, we are excited to announce our new company name: Marsh Hen Mill,” owner Greg Johnsman said in a statement. Following behind several major companies that have also made decisions to change their names and logos due to backlash including Ben's Original, formerly Uncle Ben's, and former Quaker Oats product, Aunt Jemima, Marsh Hill Mill will no longer 'appropriate' the Geechee heritage.
