Due to expected cold temperatures, several warming shelters will open up around the area.
Those in Charleston County can head to Hibben United Methodist in Mount Pleasant. The emergency warming shelter is located at 690 Coleman Boulevard. They will open on January 17 from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Ridge Baptist Church in Berkeley County will also open its doors January 17 and January 18. It's located in Summerville at 2168 Ridge Church Road. It runs from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Breakfast will be served in the morning.
Finally in Colleton County, St. Peter's AME church in Walterboro will open its doors. The church is located at 300 Fishburne street. The doors will be open January 17 from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Dinner and breakfast will be served. You can call (843) 549-6412 for a ride to the shelter.
