Isle of Palms passes ban on single-use plastic bags, plastic straws

ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCSC) - People who visit Isle of Palms will be more limited on what they can bring with them to the beach.

On Tuesday, city council passed an ordinance banning single-use plastic bags, plastic straws, polystyrene coolers, food containers, cups, and balloons.

Anyone caught with any of these items can be fined 100 dollars.

The regulations will go into effect Jan. 1 of next year.
