PEOPLE Magazine is confirming, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has identified suspects in a disturbing video showing a group of individuals dragging a shark behind a boat at high speeds.
No names have been released by the FWC, however many are lashing out at the MTV reality show Siesta Key and in particular, one of the shows stars, Alex Kompothecras, after activists connected the cast member to the incident.
Florida Governor Rick Scott spoke about the incident, calling the acts, "hateful" and "inhumane." Governor Scott released the following statement, "“This week, an incredibly disturbing video was reported by the media showing individuals senselessly dragging a shark behind their boat at high speed. The brutality and disrespect shown to this animal is sickening and I am sure that you share in my outrage over these individuals’ heinous actions.”
