Sometimes I forget what a big deal and special honor it is to get to do what I do. I just get caught up in being busy and moving on to the next thing...that I sometimes don't take the time to enjoy the really special moments. An example would be what happened on Friday Night:
We did a contest with REV Federal Credit Union where one local artist got to be the LOCAL Opening Act for our 2020 iHeart Radio Music Festival. That winning artist was Randall Fowler. I am a huge fan of Randall and his music and I am always rooting for his success. I just think he is super talented. In this world of webcams and virtual artist interviews...I recorded an interview with Randall earlier in the day so that I could make sure everything aired as planned on WEZL before I had to hand things over to Ryan Seacrest to kick off the night. CLICK HERE to watch his interview and performance as Opening Act.
What that allowed Randall and his wife to do is...actually go sit in their vehicle and listen to one of his songs being played on the radio for the very first time!!!! You can see the video from Facebook HERE...but this quote from his wife made me choke back a few tears...
"... tonight a song, he wrote, was played on country radio for the first time ever. Not only that, but to be the local iHeartRadio Music festival opener. I gulped down a few lumps before the tears were uncontrollable while we sat in our driveway and listened to this."
