Food Trends That Dominated 2021

Alcohol to-go became available at many restaurants this year as well as restaurants not taking customers' bad behavior and refusals of following COVID protocols. Many restaurants showed customers the door if they weren’t complying. 

Many eateries suffered staffing shortages, causing frustrations from both restaurant management and customers. Many food entrepreneurs opted for ghost kitchens this year in order to cut costs of starting a new business.  

Birria Tacos came to the South with Texas adding these savory tacos with consommé dip to many menus. Speaking of adding to menus, Charcuterie Boards were added to menus as people stepped up their Lunchable game. 

Food made famous in other cities were hot in 2021 with Detroit Style Pizza joints popping up across the nation and are ally good frozen option by Motor City Pizza Co. Nashville Hot Chicken is making its debut as well and is being served up as strips, bone-in, sandwiches or wraps, however you like it, it’s a test of your spice levels that you’ll enjoy exploring.
