Charleston County Needs Hundreds of Poll Workers for November Election

Charleston County is in need of hundreds of poll workers for this November's presidential election. Presidential elections in Charleston County typically need a staff of 800 - 900 poll workers to maintain a smooth experience with minimal and fast moving lines, according to Charleston's Board of Elections Director, Joseph Debney.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many previous poll workers are hesitant to volunteer this go around. The pandemic has caused many roadblocks this election season, which is why there will be many more absentee voting options. Senate President Harvey Peeler has shared that the South Carolina Senate will return to Columbia, SC on September 2, 2020 to address this election year's voting procedures, which should clarify any questions or concerns that South Carolina residents may have about voting in this years election.
