How Director Lee Kirk Made a Green Day Comedy ‘Nimrods’ + Movie Review: Super Troopers 3 or One Night Only Trailer Park: Jumanji: Open World

Mike talks to director Lee Kirk about his new Green Day comedy, Nimrods, which follows a group of teenagers who road-trip to Los Angeles for the chance to open for their heroes, Green Day, on New Year’s Eve. Lee shares how he first connected with Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, the real-life band stories that inspired the movie, and what it was like directing a cast that includes Green Day playing themselves, Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace and Lee’s wife, Jenna Fischer. In the Movie Review, Mike talks about Super Troopers 3. The troopers try to bring down a new drug ring, while Farva's wildly over-the-top engagement to Thorny's sister spirals into chaos. Mike talks about why he thinks this proves comedy movies are dead, why Broken Lizard's comedy has aged poorly and what movie they should have made instead of this one. In the Trailer Park, Mike talks about Jumanji: Open World where the in-game avatars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan enter reality stuck in malfunctioning "demo mode," forcing real-world humans to step inside the game to fix it. Mike shares why people are outraged at Sony and the Rock’s Top 10 highest grossing movies.

FEELING THINGS - Healing After Abuse + Are My Parents Gambling Addicts? (Couch Talks)

We're answering a heartbreaking listener question from a woman who survived a severely abusive relationship, one that included manipulation, threats, and abandonment during her pregnancy, and is now trying to figure out how to move forward knowing she may never get justice, accountability, or an apology, especially watching her ex seemingly land on his feet.

Then we shift to a listener wondering if her parents' frequent casino trips have crossed the line from hobby into addiction, and how to bring up the fact that she and her kids would love to see them more, without it turning into a fight.

We also play a voicemail from a listener with nearly 700 skydiving jumps under her belt, trying to convince us to finally give it a shot.

A heads-up: this episode touches on abuse, addiction, and suicide threats. If any of this hits close to home, please take care while listening.
